•Pollution incidents, these can lead to
several miles of river being totally wiped out as pollutants are quickly
dispersed by moving water. Not only all year classes of fish can be lost
but also the aquatic invertebrates on which they feed. It can take
several years for a river to fully recover from a major pollution
incident.
